The bireme was in constant use by the Greeks more than 2500 years ago. The imposing ships were used exclusively as warships, as the large spike on the bow proves. It was positioned just above the water and was used to ram other ships at high speed and literally impale them. On both sides of the ship, the oarsmen sat on staggered benches in two rows, one above the other, in order to use the incredibly long oars effectively. Skilled rowers could also turn the bireme using only the oars. The sail was only used as an auxiliary thruster, hoisted in favorable winds. The Greeks did not yet know anything about maneuvering while sailing against the wind, and the bireme's hull was not adapted for such sailing.
Simple, beautiful and colorful, but requiring patience, attention and diligence model, which will be perfectly glued even by a modeler with little experience, working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. The detailing is quite average, but the model has its own "charm".
