The floating battery "Langemaren" was built in Copenhagen in 1719. In June of the same year she, together with "Spydstagen" and "Frederikshald", was sent to reinforce the escadrem led by Admiral Tordenskjold, which blocked Gothenburg. The Danian and Norwegian escadre consisted of 7 battleships, 6 frigates, 6 gunboats, 2 floating batteries, a bomb ship and 4 galleys. The total number of escadre artillery was 528 guns. At the end of June, with the exception of two large ships and one galley, guarding the main channel at New-Elfsborg, Tordenskjold's main force was moved to Marstrand, where the Swedish escadre was stationed. Her ships were not fully manned and not ready for active action, but in general the defenses of the bay looked impressive, and the fortress of Karlsten towering over the city was considered impregnable. But on June 23 Marstrand was captured by the Danes, the Swedish ships were either burned or captured, the fortress capitulated. Karlsten's surrender is still shrouded in legend and myth. In Denmark and Norway, the news of the victory was met with great enthusiasm, and King Frederik IV prepared for peace negotiations. There was no longer any reason to keep such a large escadre in combat readiness and the ships returned home one by one. But during the night from September 11 to 12, Swedish galleys captured 8 Danish ships, including "Langemaren". On the night of October 8, Admiral Tordenskjold personally led a retaliatory diversionary operation. Its results - most of the Swedish ships were burned.
