"L`Aigle" was built as a yacht for Emperor Napoleon III in Cherbourg according to the project of Dupuy de Lome. The ship was launched on December 23, 1858, and began service in 1859. In September 1860 and 1865, Napoleon made trips to Algeria on this yacht. In October 1869, "L'Aigle" sailed with Empress Eugenie to the celebrations of the opening of the Suez Canal in Egypt. The ship was converted into a gunboat in 1870 and renamed "Le Rapide" in 1873. Later it was taken into reserve and between 1885 and 1888 it was disarmed and dismantled.
A well-designed and well-detailed model of moderate complexity, that even advanced beginner modelers can glue together under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. The parts, where needs, are printed with double-sided printing, while the bronze parts and copper bottom cladding are printed with "metallic" paints. Sails and flags are double-sided printed on thin paper.
