A pink or pinka (from French Pinque - flat-bottomed sailship and German Pinke - cargo ship) is a two- or three-masted sailship with diagonal Latin or straight sails. They have been used by naval fleets for reconnaissance and cruising operations since the 17th century. Water capacity from 50 to 200 tons. They were armed with smoothbore guns of 4-8 pounder caliber (up to 20 guns). They were not widely used in the navy even as scouts and light transports were inferior to ships such as sloops, frigates or yachts. Ships of this class appeared in the Russian fleet during the Northern War. Depending on the size, it could be armed with 38 cannons. They were used to transport cargo and provide supplies and ammunition to the ships of the escadre, as well, as for reconnaissance and cruising operations. Pink were built for the Russian fleet until 1780, except for one built for the Caspian flotilla in 1839.
The model is of medium difficulty, small but interesting. Recommended for intermediate to experienced naval enthusiasts, however, working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague, this model will be great for both the advanced beginner and the less experienced modeler. But it won't be easy. This model features a high level of detail, with some details printed double-sided. Some parts are printed with "metallic" type bronze paint, they are "black cladding" parts. The model has a lot of details, but the extensive and informative graphic instructions will greatly help in the process of gluing the model.
