The origins of the armed brig HMS “Badger” are unknown. It was probably a ship, captured during the American Revolutionary War. Other sources claim, that it was bought in 1776 by the brig "Pitt", later renamed "Badger". Frencis L. Montanes became the first commander of the ship, who commanded it from 26.06.1776 to 03.12.1776. Horacio Nelson was appointed to command the brig on 12/08/1777, but did not actually take command until 1/1/1778 and it was his first ship, as captain. On 19.06.1779 Nelson was appointed captain of the frigate HMS “Hinchinbroke”, and the “Badger” was subsequently commanded by five other captains. After the end of the war with America the brig was sold in June 1783. During its service, the “Badger” mainly carried out reconnaissance missions, inspecting merchant ships, patrolling and other tasks.
The model is well designed and detailed, very complex, so we recommend sticking it only to experienced and intermediate modellers. The model is characterized by an abundance of details and their careful detailing, technological assembly of nodes.
