The gaff schooner "America" remains to this day, perhaps the most famous yacht in the world, not only because it was the first, to cross the Atlantic Ocean (yacht), but also because it won the "100 Guinea Cup" around Wight Island, defeating all the British yachts and, at the same time, starting the "America Cup" offshore yacht race, which continues to this day. The yacht was built to order by members of the “New York Yacht Club Syndicate”. The schooner was designed by James Ritchie and George Styres. During the first crossing of the Atlantic, the yacht broke the record for the distance, sailed in a day, covering 284 nautical miles, with an average daily speed of 11.8 knots. On August 22, 1851, "America" takes part in the "100 Guinea Cup" race, organized by the British yacht club "Royal Yacht Squadron". Their course was around the Isle of Wight and during their course America defeated all 14 British yachts competing. In 1862 the ship was sunk in Jacksonville, when the Unionists occupied this city. It was later raised, repaired and used by the Unionists for blockades until the end of the war. After the Civil War, the ship was used as a Naval Academy training ship. Until 1940 it changed owners several times. Dismantled in 1945. Three replicas of “America” have been built so far.

The model is well designed and richly detailed, maximally reproduces the look of the yacht, but... not complicated. Only this should not be Your "firstborn" - the first model. The most difficult thing will be to maintain the straightness of the hull and overcome the rigging. The details of the bottom of the model are printed with "Metallic" type copper color paint, the sails and flags are double-sided printed on thinner paper.
