Long-distance sleeping wagon (Russia/ USSR)

Long-distance sleeping wagons (TSMV, rus. СВПС), produced in per-revolutionary Russia, were the most comfortable wagons, that operated on the railways of the USSR before and after World War II. TSMV differs from a conventional soft wagon coupe in terms of equipment, trim, and construction of the roadway and body. These wagons are equipped with special triple suspension trolleys, specially designed bumpers, metal frame, wooden body. Every second double cabin is equipped with washing facilities. Before the revolution in Russia the International Association of Sleeping Wagons and Long-distance Trains, to which they belonged, took care of the installation of such wagons on the railways. They were produced by the Tver Wagon Factory and they started to be produced there around 1901. In 1929 all these wagons were transferred to the Moscow node and were the office of sleeping wagons. This type of wagons were used until 1955 by high-speed trains, running between large cities - "Red Arrow", "Transsiberian Express", etc. - in the lineups.
