Stadler „FLIRT“ PKP „Intercity“ – the Polish diesel intercity train.

The Stadler “FLIRT” family of diesel, electric and diesel-electric rolling stock. This type of train has been produced since 2004 at the factory of the Swiss company "Stadler Rail". Since 2007, these sets have also been produced in a factory in Siedlce, Poland. The concept of the “FLIRT” trainsets was developed by “Stadler Rail” in Busnange and they were first publicly demonstrated in 2002. The original version consisted only of electric four-wagon sets. But, considering subsequent orders, the range of production expanded. This pleasant trade name "FLIRT" is actually an acronym, that comes from the English or German name of the trainsets: "Fast Light Innovative Regional Train", "Flinker Leichter Innovativer Regional Triebzug". "FLIRTs" are produced in several versions with different numbers of wagons and for different purposes. In Poland this type of trains is operated by "Mazowia Railways" - 4-member trains ER75, "Silesian Railways" - also 4-member trains EN75, "Lodz Aglomerat Railways" - 2-member trains, PKP "Intercity" - 8-member trains. The trains are of modular construction and the engine and passenger wagons are strictly separated. In addition to Poland, “FLIRT” is used in Algeria, Belarus, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia, Finland, Holland, Germany, Serbia, Slovenia, USA, Switzerland, France, Italy, Sweden, Hungary and Austria.
