In parallel with the two-axle locomotive TGR, a powerful and capable two-axle locomotive designated TGK-2 (hydroelectric locomotive, Kaluga plant, type 2) was designed and started production at the  Kaluga machine-building plant in 1960, intended for work in industrial enterprises and as a shunting locomotive at railway stations, maximum towed weight - up to 700 tons. These diesel carriers were produced by Kaluga MGG without interruption until 1992. Later, production continued intermittently until 2009. But the modernized TGK2M was produced, the power of the diesel engines was increased, and the mass of the locomotive itself also increased. A total of 9100 series TGK2 locomotives were produced. The export variant of the TGK2, designated TGK2-E, was supplied to the German DR (183 locomotives), Czechoslovakia (55 locomotives) and the Polish PR. They were also used in the Lithuanian SSR. Some of them remained and were used in independent Lithuania during the first decade of independence. Around the year 2000, they were modernized at the Vilnius railway depot and after modernization marked TGK-2a, they were equipped with western diesel engines, replaced equipment, updated chassis and mechanisms. It is possible, that some companies still operate these locomotives.

A complex, well-designed and highly detailed model of a small diesel locomotive for intermediate and advanced modelers. It has a detailed driver's cab, engine compartment, chassis, mechanisms, perfectly restored exterior. Excellent graphic instructions, a considerable stock of colors. Based on photos from the Internet, it is possible to make this model "Lithuanian", using computer rendering programs.
