It is known, that the first steam locomotive was built by Richard Trevitick. The history of its origins is closely linked to the industrial region of Cornwall and it was at that time that the Industrial Revolution took place. So, it is not surprising, that steam-powered transport has been the focus here. After months of construction, on February 21, 1804, the “Penydarren” locomotive, "hooked" in 5 wagons, loaded with about 10 tons of iron, moved from the village of Penydarren to Abercynon, 9 miles apart. In addition, about 70 men got into the wagons, which was a significant extra weight. The journey took 4 hours and 5 minutes. The locomotive covered all the way back and forth.
A simple, unconventional locomotive model, that can be assembled by modelers of any experience.
