Submarine cruisers of the XIV series appeared in the Soviet fleet in the 30s of the last century. Escadre-type submarines could be used by ship in enemy sea communications as a submarine raider. Obviously, the huge size of the submarine was determined by the need for long marches against enemy communications, and the escadre requirements related to actions in the Baltic and Black Seas. Submarine K-21 entered service after 1940 of the war between the Soviet Union and Finland, preparations were immediately started for the transition to the north, where they arrived at the beginning of the Great Patriotic War on August 24. A submarine of this series carried out the famous attack on the German battleship "Tirpitz" in 1942. July 5 Ship commander - 3rd rank captain N.A. Lunin could not use the forward torpedoes, he attacked the "Tirpitz" with four torpedoes from the rear. Two explosions rang out and the submarine went down without raising the periscope. On July 7, K-21 was recalled to the base, where he was congratulated as a winner, and in October 1942, K-21 was awarded the Order of the Red Banner, and Lunin himself was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
The model, although large, is not very complicated, so even an advanced beginner, who has already glued several more complex models, can glue it under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. But it won't be easy. The model is well designed and richly detailed, with some details printed in metallic bronze paint. There are sheets with double-sided printing.
