The bathyscaphe “Trieste” is probably the most famous of its kind, as it was the first to land with the crew at the bottom of the Marian Basin. The “Trieste” was designed by the Swiss Augustus Pikar, built in Trieste and launched on August 26, 1953. It was bought by the U.S. Navy in 1957. On January 23, 1960, Lieutenant Don Wuols and Jacques Picard (son of Augustus Picard) landed at this facility in the deepest part of the Earth's ocean, the Marian Basin (the depths of Chelendger). In a 9-hour immersion, they reached a depth of 10,912 meters.

The model is not difficult to assemble, so it can be recommended for the advanced beginner modeler, who will do the job perfectly, but it would be better to work under the supervision of a more experienced colleague and this should not be one of the first models you will assemble. Revised and slightly supplemented reedition.
