German anti-tank 40 model 75 mm caliber cannon, used by the German army during World War II. Design work began at the “Krupp” and “Rheinmetall” plants in 1939. In 1941, when the well-armored T-34 and KV tanks were encountered after the German invasion of the USSR, design work was greatly accelerated. The first cannons were introduced to Wermacht units in late 1941, and by 1943 they had already formed the basis of German anti-tank artillery and had fought quite successfully against Soviet tanks. There were other armaments in the Axis states, and trophy specimens were also used in the Soviet Army. After the war, he served in the armed forces of Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Finland, Romania and Hungary. About 23,000 units were produced, and another 6,000 units were manufactured and installed in German self-propelled anti-tank vehicles.
