Onager, the main "artillery" device of the Roman legions, was not really a Roman invention. They took over this catapult from the Greeks, where it was constructed by Amian Marcelinus in 385 BC. But it is known, that similar devices have been used by Syrians for a long time. With these weapons it was possible to throw stones, weighing 30 - 50 kg, at a distance of 350 - 1000 m.
A simple, but demanding model, that will be easily assembled by any experienced modeler. It is also possible to make a "working" model.
