The first knowledge of navigational bonfires, fired at the mouth of the Parsenta, reaches us from the seventeenth century. Later, a fire was lit in a tower, delivered to the pilot station building near the eastern breakwater. Right next to the lighthouse stood a powerful fort, that guarded the harbor and city. This fort, lighthouse, and station complex retained its overall appearance until March 1945, despite alterations. The retreating Germans blew up the lighthouse and station buildings as they were a great landmark for Soviet and Polish artillery. After the war, the reconstruction of the lighthouse began, but it was decided to build the tower on the artillery platform of the fort. The lighthouse has hardly changed since the restoration, in 1979-81 the capital repairs were carried out, the lamp room was rebuilt and the lighting equipment was renewed. The lighthouse is visible 16 nautical miles (29.6 km) away.

The model is not complicated and is perfect for beginners and inexperienced modelers. And more experienced people can try to "squeeze" more, than the publication gives.
