The Hudson-Athens Lighthouse is built on the Hudson River in the state of New York, USA. Construction began in 1873, it was put into use on November 14, 1874. The building is built on a uniquely shaped granite caisson designed to protect the lighthouse from the effects of ice floes. On December 10, 1949, the lighthouse was fully automated. Owned by the US Coast Guard since launch. In 1967, the Hudson River Valley Commission, chaired by Nelson A. Rockefeller, proposed transferring several lighthouses to non-commercial historical groups to ensure their maintenance and preservation. On February 15, 1984, a 20-year lighthouse lease was signed between the US Coast Guard and the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse Preservation Society (HALPS). In 2000, all the management rights of the lighthouse were transferred to this association, this organization conducts sightseeing tours of the lighthouses belonging to it. Currently, the lighthouse has been restored to its 1930 appearance.
A simple, but beautiful model of a lighthouse with a full caisson, that will be glued together by a modeler of any experience. Only beginners and modelers with little experience are recommended to glue it under the supervision of a more experienced colleague and omitting some unnecessary details.
