In the mid-thirties of the 20th century, based on the experience, gained in the construction of his previous machines, Aleksandr Yakovlev built the Air-10 training aircraft. The prototype took off for the first time on July 11, 1935. This plane took the first place in the raid of sports and training planes, which took place in September 1935 on a route of 4500 km. One of the goals of the raid was to identify the best training aircraft, which was later to become the main training aircraft in the aviation schools of the USSR. Further tests in 1936 confirmed the suitability of the machine for initial training. After making some changes, serial production began in September 1937, giving the aircraft the designation UT-2 (Учебно – тренировочный двухместный – educational – training two-seater). As the airplanes began to be used in flight schools and flying clubs, it became clear, that the machine tended to enter a flat spin. In 1941 the design was improved and this "tendency" was avoided, and the improved version UT-2M began to be produced. Production ceased only in 1947, after 7,243 aircraft of both versions had been produced.

A very well designed and richly detailed model airplane, suitable for modelers of all experience. Only beginners and modelers with little experience should glue this model under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. The cabin interior, engine model, wheeled and ski versions have been perfectly restored. Two complete models can be made from the publication, one painted in the colors of the USSR, the other in the colors of the Air Force of the Polish People's Republic.
