The ANT-3 prototype took off for the first time in August 1925. The aircraft was intended (primarily) for military use for reconnaissance purposes and was designated R-3. It was a biplane with different wingspans, all metal construction, covered with corrugated aluminum sheet. After changing the primary “Liberty” engine (400 h.p.) to the “Napier Lion” (450 h.p.), the aircraft became designated R-3ND. The first 12 serial machines were equipped with “Liberty” engines, the next 18 were equipped with Soviet-made “M-5” engines, which were a license variant of the “Liberty”. Later 79 airplanes were equipped with 450 h. p. power engines Lorraine "Dietrich" - these reconnaissance aircrafts are designated R-3LD. One ANT-3 was tested with 680 h. p. power engine “BMW VI”. The maximum speed of the R-3LD reached 205 km/h, the plane was armed with 3 x 7.7 mm caliber machine guns and could carry 10 x 10 kg bombs on the external suspension points.
The model is intended for modelers of all experience, but beginners and less experienced modelers should stick this model under the supervision of a more experienced colleague, as there is simply nothing to simplify. High level of detail: fully recreated interior of the pilot and scout cabins, perfectly detailed engine, separated control plates. There are bomb details, the inner surfaces are printed with "metallic" paint. The model depicts an airplane with the slogan "Our answer to Chamberlain" («Наш ответ Чемберлену»). The image of corrugated surfaces is perfectly rendered. Colors reserves are in stock.
