The “Phonix” D.I single-seat fighter, which was piloted in mid-1917, was a more advanced modification of the “Hansa-Brandenburg” D.I biplane, featuring more efficient wings, improved construction and a more powerful engine. Official tests showed, that its speed was higher, but the plane was too stable and difficult to pilot. But, due to the fact, that fighters were needed here and now, the fighter "Phonix" D.I was directed to serial production alone. Later, attempts were made to improve its maneuverability and flight characteristics, resulting in the production of the modification D.II. It had more balanced height rudder plates, the ailerons mounted on the upper wing had compensators. The last serial version D.III had ailerons with compensators on both wings, a more powerful 230 h. p power in-line engine “Hiero”. A total of 158 “Phonix” D-series fighters of all versions were produced, with a few being converted into photo-reconnaissance aircraft. After the war, several D.III version fighters were sold to Sweden.
Well detailed engine and cockpit interior. Complete set of airframes and the ability to make movable ailerons and rudders, very realistically designed wooden model parts, metal parts printed with "metallic" paint. The model, under the supervision of a more experienced colleague, can be perfectly glued together by an advanced beginner and a modeler with little experience. But it will require the use of all reserves of patience, diligence, and attentiveness.
