The HL-2 “Haroldek” was the first self-made design by engineer Jozef Medwedski, a designer at the “Poznan Aircraft Workshop”. With the help of several volunteers and friends, Joseph began building this plane in 1926. Part of the material was purchased by the designer himself, part by the company, and the three-cylinder engine “Anzani” was provided by the LOPP organization. Medvedsky's main goal was to hold the First Polish Aircraft Competition in October 1927. In the early autumn of 1927, the plane starts for its first flight. The plane is painted bright red, except for the front panels, and the glasses of the famous American actor Harold Lloid, popularly known as “Haroldek”, were painted on the sides. In early October, with several breakdowns and repairs, the HL-2 flew to Warsaw to take part in the competition, but was late for it. However, the commission agreed to participate in the non-competitive program. But there was another accident - the engine broke down and, after a forced landing, the engine was dismantled, the plane was loaded to be transported home, but the truck was also involved in an accident and “Haroldek” was damaged beyond repair.
The model is not complicated, but it has several nuances, that cause problems - the installation of a parasol-type wing, one uncovered wheel, but this is not the problem, that would prevent modelers starting to assembly this model. But not as one of the first.
