OS2-U aircraft were used on all fronts of the Second World War for patrolling, reconnaissance, correction of ship artillery actions, storming of land targets, used as communication planes and even dive bombers. The feat of Captain Eddie Rickenbacker brought the greatest notoriety to this type of aircraft. After picking up the pilots of the downed American plane from the water, the plane could not take off from the water due to overloading and heavy waves. Not wanting to leave a single person in the ocean, the captain decided to sail 65 kilometers to the nearest naval base.
A model of medium complexity, ailerons and control plates can be made either integral with the main plates or separated. The model corresponds to the float version of the plane, but the publication also includes details of the land transport trolley, which is placed under the center float. A well-detailed model, that can be made with an engine model, the Reconnaissance gunner's cockpit hood and armament can be made in both - combat and marching - positions. However, beginners and less experienced modelers are recommended to glue this model under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. In addition, it is recommended for beginners to make opaque cockpit hoods, wings and ailerons, and tail plates and rudders from continuous parts, without auxiliary landing gear, without making an engine model.
