Probably, the best Royal Aircraft Factory fighter was the SE-5a (Scout Experimental). It was designed by H. Folland and J. Kenworth, using a new “Hispano-Suiza” engine. The first prototype was crashed during testing in November 1916. Later, the same prototype befalls the second prototype. The first S.E. - 5a units reached in March 1917, when 5 fighter jets were delivered to 56 Squadron. After the production of 50 specimens with the very capricious and perishable engines “Hispano – Suiza”, they are replaced in the 200 h. p. power engines “Wolseley Hispano – Suiza” 8a. A total of 5,205 specimens were produced and, on this fighter’s, flew a number of British World War I axes.
The rather sophisticated model with full wings and fuselage frame detail allows this model completely uncoated or covered on one side. There is also an option with a simplified framework, which allows this model to be assemble even for novice modelers, supervised by a more experienced colleague.
