The XP - 56 was a fighter, jet designed, according to a flying wing scheme, driven in the 2000 h. p. engine “Pratt and Whitney” R-2800-29. This machine is the first well-flying wing plane. On September 30, 1943, the “Black Bullet” took to the air for the first time. The first flights are made at an altitude of only 5 feet, and the pilot has carefully tested the control systems. Later, the height was gradually increased. But the XP-56 tests were not entirely positive - the flights were haunted by minor accidents, failures, one of which resulted in the breakdown of one prototype.
A well-designed and detailed model of medium complexity is not recommended for low-experience modelers. The intricate design of the wing, the dual, counter-rotating propeller, adds to the complexity. But in the end, an unusual, beautiful model is obtained.
