The beginning of the history of the multi-purpose aircraft Dornier Do-335 is considered to be the scheme of an airplane with two engines, one of which rotates the front one, and the other, located at the back, the rear propeller, patented by Claudio Dornier in 1937. This scheme was tested in 1940 on the Schremp-Hirth Go-9 test plane, and later work began on the fast bomber, designated Dornier P.231. But soon it was abandoned and work began on the design of the multi-purpose Dornier Do.335. It received the name "Pfeil". The first prototype was built in 1943 and took off for the first time on October 26. This plane was powered by two Daimler-Benz DB-603E engines (1723 h. p.), one mounted in the front and the other in the rear. Because the aircraft met the requirements, Dornier received an order to build 14 prototypes and 21 A-0 and A-1 series aircraft. During their production, work was carried out to improve the structure, the airplane's armament was modified, and the purpose was changed. The pilot's seat was ejected and the tailplanes were made cruciform to increase the protection of the rear propeller blades.
The model is intended for intermediate and advanced modellers, but, when working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague, this model can be assembled by an advanced beginner modeler, but not as one of the first more complex models.
