Nieuport 11 "Bebe" – the French fighter

In 1909 French aviation pioneer pilot and designer Edouard de Nieuport founded the ‘Societe d'Aerolocomotion aircraft factory” in Suresnes. It produces airplanes of his innovative design, monoplanes with as few drag-increasing elements as possible. By the middle of 1915 this factory was already producing 10 different types of airplanes. The development of the “Nieuport 10” in the direction of reduction led to the construction of the “Nieuport 11”, which received the name "Bebe" - "Child". The plane was easy to control and had excellent flight characteristics. It was armed with a single “Lewis” machine gun, a system of various racks and mounts mounted on the upper wing and firing behind the propeller's rotating area. It was one of the best fighters of its time and the pilots loved it. The model, You are about to make, depicts Captain JLV de Plandes Sieyes aircraft of 26 Squadron. It was shot down over German occupied territory on 3rd July 1916. The fighter survived a forced landing and was later captured by the Germans.
