One of the most famous Soviet aircraft Il-2 participated in battles in all theaters of operations of the Great Patriotic War and the USSR and Japan War. Initially, the IL-2 was produced as a single-seater, without a rear gunner's cockpit. At the beginning of the war, single-seater Il-2s suffered heavy losses, especially due to attacks from enemy fighters from behind. Designers tried to solve the problem of protecting the strike aircraft from attack from the tail hemisphere by installing backward-firing machine guns in the rear part of the fuselage. In August of 1942 the Air Force Research Institute tested two Il-2s with ShKAS and UBT machine guns, but they did not go into production. In the summer of 1942 combat units began to change single-seater airplanes to two-seater ones (about 1,200 airplanes were converted). In October the two-seater version began mass production (until the beginning of 1943, two-seater and single-seater Il-2s were produced in parallel). Production of the Il-2 continued until 1945, when it was replaced by the metal attack aircraft Il-10.

This model is a converted to two-seater version of the single-seater Ilyushin Il-2, previously released by this publisher. The basic structure is the same, as the single-seater. This is a wonderful, well-detailed model with lots of small details. The printing in this edition is better, the colors are clearer and the model overall looks nicer. The model is intended for intermediate and advanced modelers only. Colors are not in stock. The model recreates the aircraft, painted in winter camouflage and there is a choice of simpler or more complex assembly options, but both are too complicated for beginners and less experienced modelers.
