Emil Salmson designed the airplane "Salmson 2" in the second half of 1916. It was designed in two versions: A2 - reconnaissance and B2 - bomber. The B2 version was the same, as the A2, except instead of a photo camera, it carried a 160 kg bomb load, that was mounted on the outside of the fuselage on both sides. A total of 3,200 "Salmson" 2A2 and 2B2 aircraft were produced, mainly reconnaissance versions. 22 squadrons were armed with "Salmson 2" planes in France and they participated in combat flights from the spring of 1918. 11 squadrons of the US Expeditionary Force flying in Europe during World War I were also armed with these planes (750 aircraft's). Belgian and Japanese military aviation were also armed with them (in Japan, these planes were produced under license and were called Kawasaki "Otsu-1). In 1919 Poland bought 45 "Salmson" 2A2 planes from France.
The model from this publication represents the plane with the serial number 24 of the composition of the 1st Aviation Squadron of the US Air Corps, with which pilots A. J. Coyle (1 victory), J. W. Corley (3 victories) and A. E. Easterbrook (5 victories) flew to the front and fought in October - November 1918. The model is not complex, well designed and quite richly detailed. It will also be suitable for modelers with little experience, working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. The most difficult thing here will be the correct installation of wings and spacers. But the details are large, colorful, the textual instructions are quite detailed, the graphics are rather poor. Colors reserve are, unfortunately, not in stock.
