Sports plane "RWD-5" took to the air for the first time in 1931 in Warsaw. It was recognized as the best Polish sports plane of that period. A total of 20 copies were produced, but all of them were destroyed during World War II. In 1933 the record version of the plane, marked "RWD-5bis", took off for its first flight. By de-montage the passenger seat and thus increasing the fuel reserves to 752 liters, the plane was made for a transatlantic flight. Captain Stanislaw Skarzinski became the pilot of the record-breaking flight. On May 7, 1933, at 11:00 p.m., it took off from Saint Louis in Senegal and landed in Maceio, Brazil, after a 20:30-hour flight. The flight distance record, achieved by this flight for airplanes up to 450 kg in empty-weight, has not been broken so far and reaches 3582 km.

A small, well-designed and well-detailed model airplane of moderate complexity for modelers of all experience, but not for complete beginners. However, for advanced beginners and modelers with little experience, we recommend working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague and this should not be one of the first, more complex models You make. We recommend, that these modelers try to make the cabin equipment first: it will work - great, we make a full version, if it fails - we make the glasses opaque. Most of the cladding on the model is printed with metallic silver paint, so be very careful with the glue.
