The decision on a project of a specialized night close-range bomber was made on April 26, 1942. The design and construction of the prototype was entrusted to Yakovlev TCB. Due to the, fact that the USSR was under martial law at the time, the construction of the bomber, which was so necessary for the front, proceeded very quickly. Already in July 1942 the first two copies were partially completed: the transport version - 75%, the bomber version - 25%. Prototypes are produced at factory no. 47 in Orenburg. Factory tests of the transport version took place in August - September 1942, their results were evaluated with high marks and the plane was sent to serial production. The Yak-6 was cheap to manufacture, easy to use and undemanding to fuel quality. It could be used as a transport, liaison, sanitary and night bomber. The use of the Yak-6 as a close-range night bomber was limited by the aircraft's capabilities due to its low-power engines. But that power was fully enough to perform other functions. Therefore, the transport version became the main production version of the Yak-6. At the end of 1943 the production of the Yak-6 was stopped by the USSR AF, by that time 384 aircraft had been produced. The Yak-6 received the baptism of the front in the final stage of the Stalingrad battles, these planes delivered couriers, orders, mail, medicines, took out the wounded, flew behind the front line to maintain communications with the partisans and for their supply purposes. Dozens of front-line aircraft were equipped with guides for launching RS-82 rockets (10 units). A certain number of aircraft of this type remained in the rear, where they served aviation and defense industry companies, delivered spare parts and factory repair crews to the front. This type of aircraft was used as transport until the mid-1950s.

A beautifully designed and richly detailed model of a small transport aircraft, suitable for modelers of all experience levels, apart from complete beginners. Only advanced beginners and modelers with little experience are recommended to make this model under the supervision of a more experienced colleague and it should not be one of the first more complex models You make. In addition, it is recommended to make the interior of the cabin, transparent glasses, as a test: it will work - great, we glue it in place and show it to everyone, if it does not work - we make the glasses opaque. By the way, You can choose the type of chassis (wheels or skis) and camouflage (winter or summer, because the model is designed for two versions: winter and summer), only one model can be made from one magazine.
