The prototype T-3 was produced in March 1956 and was presented at the Tushin Air Parade in June. In 1960, after protracted testing and structural repairs, the plane was taken to armament. Production began in 1958 and the aircraft was marked Su-9. These fighters were first used for combat purposes in the 1960s, when they tried unsuccessfully to shoot down an American plane, a spy U-2, flying over USSR territory. Manufactured before 1962.
The model depicts a USSR AF fighter, designed for novice modelers, and is greatly simplified. But beginners need them - they assemble quickly, and accurately, and have a great exhibit.
