Production of the prototype S-1 was completed in 1954. During the tests in the following years, the speed of the aircraft was doubled, reaching 2170 km / h. The tests were completed in 1958 and production of the aircraft began in series in Komsomolsk-sur-Amur. And, although some of the shortcomings of the aircraft became apparent, production continued, with their phasing out. Because the USSR desperately needed a fighter – bomber, capable of carrying a nuclear weapon and also attacking ground targets. These aircraft are used in the Air Force of many Warsaw Pact states, including the Republic of Poland, whose aircraft is depicted in this model.
The model is adapted for novice modelers and is greatly simplified. But beginners need them - they assemble quickly, and accurately, and have a great exhibit.
