The Yak-17 fighter was built in 1947 at the Yakovlev Design Bureau. It is a further development of the Yak-15, which was powered by a German-built Junkers Jumo jet engine. Yak - 17 installed a new landing gear with a front steering wheel, redesigned tail planes, cabin equipment, fuel supply installation and installed a much more powerful Soviet-produced RD-10A engine, which was also more durable. About 430 fighters of this type were produced together with examples of the training version. Polish PR AF also used several combat and a dozen training aircraft of this type. These were mostly demonstration flights, intended to demonstrate the capabilities of the jet engine, rather than combat or training flights. The Yak-17 was an all-metal monoplane with a wing, located in the middle of the fuselage, a redan fuselage with an RD-10A engine, mounted at the bottom of the nose. The fighter is armed with two NS-23 cannons of 23 mm caliber. Additional fuel tanks are mounted at the ends of the wing. These aircraft were among the first jets, produced by the USSR, and were treated as transitional from propellers to jets. A number of structural innovations have been tested with them.

A simple, well-designed and detailed model with full detailing of the cockpit, chassis niches and the chassis itself, exterior. Only the air intake and exhaust are detailed on the engine. The model reproduces the typical camouflage of the first Soviet jet fighters and is intended for modelers of all experience. Even an advanced beginner can glue it together without any help from more experienced colleagues. But it won't be easy.
