The ANT-25 aircraft achieved several flight distance records; in 1936 in November it was included in the number of Soviet exhibits at the World Air Show in Paris and received exceptional attention. On the morning of June 18, 1937, a flight from the USSR to the USA via the North Pole started. The crew of Chkalov, Beliakov and Baidukov flew north towards the pole. After that, the plane got into a cyclone over Canada, which had to be overtaken for a long time. They flew at an altitude of 4-6 km. There was little oxygen left - the pilots' power sequence. It was changed every hour. Over the Pacific Ocean, oxygen supplies have run out. I had to go down. June 20 19:30 Moscow time after 63 hours. 25 minutes flight ANT-25 landed at an airfield near the city of Vancouver (USA). Over the ocean and ice, 9,500 km were covered, of which several thousand kilometers were flown blind by instruments. Already 3 weeks later, N.N. Gromov's crew made another flight to America via the North Pole. At the same time, Soviet pilots set a new world distance record. The plane stayed in the air for 62 hours and 17 minutes, covering a distance of 11,500 km.
From the publication You can make a model of the flight of V. P. Chkalov's crew over the North Pole to the US plane "ANT-25". A well designed and detailed model, printed, where needed, in silver metallic type paint. All this will allow You to assemble an interesting and beautiful model with a wingspan of 1030 mm. Recommended for intermediate and advanced modelers. There are sheets with double-sided printing.
