“I-250” prototype in 1945 delivered for factory testing. The combined type “VK-107A” was used for this prototype in 1 650 c. g. with jet accelerator “VRDK” engine designed by designer K. Cholshchelnikov. A 3.1 m diameter three-bladed “AV-10P-60” propeller was installed. The first flight of the “MiG-13” prototype was in 1945. March 3. Continuing the tests, on March 5th. the fighter crashed. Test pilot A. Dejev die. The cause of the disaster was a stabilizer, that collapsed due to congestion. The crash occurred at a low altitude, the pilot was able to jump out of the uncontrolled plane, but died before the parachute unfolded. In the next version, the previous errors were corrected. Reinforced stabilizers and increased keel area. The new “MiG-13” variant developed a speed of 825 km / h, outperforming the fighters of that year at 100-150 km / h. The combined engine allowed the fighter to take off from the 400 m long runway. 1946 the first eight “I-250” fighters were produced. They should have been given the name “MiG-13”, if they had been used in the military. Mikoyan tried to offer these fighters to the Navy. The first series was scheduled to produce 50 of these fighters. In fact, only 12 “MiG-13” fighters were produced. The “MiG-13” has been decommissioned.

A simple, small but well-detailed and well-designed model for any experienced modeler, but for a novice modeler, we recommend assemble it under the supervision of a more experienced colleague and it shouldn’t be one of the first more complex models.
