Polikarpov "I - 1" ("fighter Nr .first") (prototypes IL - 400 and IL - 400b) - the first single - fighter - a monoplane, designed and manufactured by the USSR with an imported engine in 1923 at the State Aviation Plant no. 1 Moscow Designers' Office, headed by Nikolaj Polikarpov, a Russian-USSR aircraft designer. The aircraft is built with 400 h. p. power “Liberty” engine, from which some documents have retained the name “Liberti Fighter” (Истребитель Либерти ИЛ-400). On August 15, 1923, he crashed during a test flight (pilot Konstantin Arceulov) due to a gross structural defect. The second prototype I - 400b was successfully tested in the spring of 1924 and recommended for series production. 33 fighters were produced, but they were not accepted into the army of the Red Army Air Force.
A simple, well-designed and detailed model, suitable for almost every modeler, but for a novice modeler, we recommend assemble this model under the supervision of a more experienced colleague and it should not be one of the first more complex models. The coating details are printed with "metallic" paints.
