Shavrov “Sh-2” – the USSR reconnaissance flying boat

In Russia, at the end of the twentieth of XX century, the need arose to have small-scale aviation for connections to remote farms. This problem has been exacerbated in particular in the northern regions of Siberia, in the Far East, where there were no other means of transportation. In 1928, the young Leningrad designer V Shavrov and his colleagues V. Korovin and N. Funtikov decided to build an amphibious plane. In 1930, Shavrov built his second amphibious aircraft, which, unlike the “Sh-1”, was fitted with the Soviet-made “M-11” engine. The “Sh-2” had a longer upper wing than its predecessor, a heavier weight and a higher load. In addition to the pilot, two passengers could fly in this boat. The first flight took place in November 1930, half a year later the aircraft passed the state tests and began production in series in 1932. The last “Sh-2” flight took place in 1964.

A simple, well-designed and detailed model, suitable for almost every modeler, but for a novice modeler, we recommend it assemble under the supervision of a more experienced colleague and it should not be one of the first more complex models. By the way, for even more "beginners" there is a version with a simplified engine, which in the "adult" version has a full A4 sheet of details.
