The Allied landing in Normandy were the largest amphibious operation in military history. Its success would not have been possible without the air superiority of the Allies, which amounted to thousands of planes. Only a few hundred Luftwaffe planes tried to disrupt this landing. The publication presents 1:50 scale models of four planes, that participated in the battles over Normandy in the first days of June 1944. Aircraft Hawker "Typhoon" Mk. I recreate the plane of RAF 21 Wing Commander Charles Green, originally from Rhodesia, in which he attacked German tank columns on 7 June. P-51 “Mustang” Mk. III recreates Sergeant’s Ryszard Idrian from 315 Polish Fighter Division, RAF, in which he shot down a Messerschmitt Bf-109F fighter on 7 June. The plane, marked PK-N, is the only photographed “Mustang” of Polish pilots with an American cockpit cower. The P-47D "Thunderbolt" model of the fighter was designed in colors of Lieutenant Francis S. Gaberski - commander of 21 Flight Squadron from 56 Flight Group. This American pilot ofPolish originally shot down 34.5 enemy planes during World War II and the Korean War. The Focke-Wulff FW-190A-8 recreates the exterior of the plane of Oberstlieutenant Josef Priler, one of the few German pilots, who attacked the invading forces on June 6. Priler shot down 101 Allied planes during World War II. All of them were shot down on the Western Front.

The models are designed to the skill level of a middle experienced modeler, but simplified elements are optional for less experienced modelers.
