The idea to make a tethered reconnaissance helicopter came to Major Petroci. It was supposed to be an alternative to hot air balloons, which were very eye-catching for enemy forces. “PKZ – 2” (Petroci, Karman and Zurovec) was constructed by Zurovec, financed by the “Bank of Hungary” and the firm “Dr. Liptak”, engaged in the smelting of steel. Zurovec worked there as the director of a scientific laboratory. On April 10, 1918, several takeoffs and landings were made with the gondola mounted, but without a pilot. They are all interrupted by strong vertical vibrations. After removing the gondola, the flights continued, but when the engine overheated, the “PKZ – 2” fell from a height of 2 m and was broken. 1918 April 21 work on the project was terminated.
Two models of medium complication (1:33 and 1:50) of medium complexity, which can be made without much difficulty by a modeler, who has assembled several models together. But for beginners, it would be good to have a more experienced colleague nearby.
