The first prototypes of the light floating tank T-40 were produced in 1939, and a year later serial production began, which continued until 1941 with the production of about 700 units. The T-40 was installed in the 70 h. p. power engine GAZ-202. The tank was armed with a 20 mm cannon SzVAK in the rotating turret or (of the initial series) 1 x 7.62 mm and one 12.7 mm caliber machine guns. These tanks are designed as a replacement for the previous Red Army floating tank T-38. A number of components from the T-38 were used in the design and production of the tank. But the new tanks were significantly different from their predecessors: they had better characteristics of movement in water, more powerful main weapons. The T-40 received its baptism of fire in 1941 during the first days of “Operation Barbarossa”. Despite the excellent maneuverability, good dynamic characteristics, they suffered heavy losses, because inexperienced Soviet officers used them not for reconnaissance (for what they were designed for), but for supporting infantry attacks with fire. At the end of 1941 T-40s were already withdrawn from the first battle lines, but they were still used in 1943 and 1944, when forcing the Dniester and Dnieper rivers.

A simple model without interior detailing, painted in "rubbed" winter white - green camouflage. On the tower there is an inscription "За Сталина!", tracks can be made both in strips and from individual tracks. Less experienced modelers are recommended to work under the supervision of a more experienced colleague and take their time. As in all tracked machinery, the most work awaits You in the chassis and track modeling process.
