In 1935 the idea of constructing a self-propelled armored infantry fire support gun was born in Germany. That's when the term Sturmartillerie came into existence. The first guns of this type appeared when the 15 cm infantry cannon siG 33 was installed on the Pz. Kpfw. I Ausf. B chassis. The next assault device was the same gun, mounted on the elongated and widened tank Pz. Kpfw. II chassis. In October 1942 the company "Alkett" introduced the assault gun on the tank Pz. Kpfw. IV chassis project. The new machine received its baptism of fire during the operation Unternechmen Zitadelle (Kursk Arc). The success of the Sturmpanzer “Brummbar” (as the Allies called this gun) led Hitler to order the production of at least 20 of these machines every month. "Brummbar" took part in suppressing the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. From 1943 to 1945 309 units of different versions of this machine were produced.

The model, you will be making, recreates the Sturmpanzer IV - Sd. Kfz. 166 "Brummbar" of the 219 Sturmpanzerabteilung, that fought in Italy in 1943. A very complex model of the armored self-propelled assault gun with full combat and engine compartment equipment, perfectly detailed undercarriage and exterior detailing, is a separate sheet with fairing details, "coated" with Zimmerit coating. The model is only for intermediate and experienced modelers, because even though we won't be doing the engine and combat compartment, the details will still be many and complex. Therefore, modelers with little experience should not attempt to make this model at all.
