In September 1943 the Ordnance Board of the Land Army of the III Reich announced a tender for a heavy tank to replace the Pz. Kpfw. VI "Tiger", for design and production. The projects of two companies were submitted to the competition: "Henschel" and "Porsche". The designs differed in shape and thickness of tower armor. "Henschel" won the competition and the first prototypes were produced in the last quarter of 1943, and serial production began in January 1944. In the first copies, a tower was installed, which many mistakenly call the Porsche tower, because both: this and the one, installed later, were designed by the engineers of the "Krupp" company. As the Allies often bombed the city of Kassel, where the factory was located, only 487 tanks were produced by the end of the war. It was the last serially produced German tank of World War II. "Royal Tigers" were supplied to combat units in February 1944. By the way, "Royal Tiger" is a wrong translation of the name of this tank, because the German "Konigstiger" is the German name for the Bengal Tiger.
A complex, perfectly detailed and designed model with "full stuffing". Intended for intermediate to advanced modelers only. Everything possible in this scale is detailed: engine, combat compartments, mechanic-driver's seat, turret interior, exterior detailing, chassis and beautiful spotted camouflage...
