KV-1E - improved KV-1 tank with additional 30mm thick armor screens. The "Kirov" and "Izhora" factories were ordered to engage in the design, testing and production of KV-1 tank armor screens by the USSR VKP (B) CK LKT of March 15, 1941 by order No. 548-232ss and April 7, 1941 amendment no. 827-345ff. The final tank armore drawings were reviewed on May 13, 1941 and approved by the director's of the "Kirov" and "Izhora' factories. On June 19, 1941 Korobkov, the head of the Board of Armored Vehicles and Tanks, signed the final approval protocol for the KV-1 tank armoring scheme. By June 16 three KV-1s with new armor screens had already been assembled at the "Kirov" plant. These tanks were used in parallel with the conventional KV-1 and during the battles, the main enemy of the tank was clarified - the German anti-aircraft 88 mm cannon FLAK 36, which the German command began to use successfully against the KV tanks. In order to protect the combat vehicles from a new enemy, 20-35 mm thick armored steel sheets were welded to the tower and hull in the factories. Not all factories screened tanks.
A model of medium complexity, well detailed, requiring care and attention for intermediate and advanced modelers. Model without combat and engine compartment detailing, perfectly restored chassis, exterior details. The model can be made in one of three colors, which differ in the marking of the tower and the inscriptions on it. The model is well "used". By the way, working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague, a model of this tank can be made by a modeler with little experience. You just don't have to rush and You will need to use all Your talents, knowledge, skills, patience and diligence.
