The “Leopard” 2 (German: “Leopard”) is a German main battle tank. By the beginning of 2015 more, than 3200 tanks of this type were produced, for 2017 2516 Leopard 2 units in various modifications are in use, they are in service armies of Germany, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Turkey, Singapore, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Denmark, Greece, Finland and other countries. After the creation of the “Leopard” tank in 1965 in the Federal Republic of Germany, the “Porsche” company began work to improve its construction, in parallel with the continuation of the joint US-Germany “MBT-70” battle machine project. The national German program, which received the name "Gilded Leopard" in 1967, and then the "Boar" ("Keiler"), led to the creation in 1969 of two prototypes, intended for testing. Since 1970 company “Krauss-Maffei” has been producing prototypes. In 1973 a promising tank received its modern name. Several prototypes of the "Leopard-2" participated in comparative tests with the promising American tank "XM-1" at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, during which the German tank was equal in many respects, superior in maintainability and power reserve, but inferior in accuracy and accuracy of fire. Based on the results of all tests and design improvements in 1977, it was decided to produce 1800 tanks in five series for the needs of the Bundeswehr; “Krauss-Maffei” remained the main contractor. In 1979 “Leopard” entered service. Production of “Leopard 2” tanks: for Germany - 2125 tanks, for Netherlands - 445 tanks, for Switzerland - 380 tanks, for Spain - 219 tanks, for Greece - 170 tanks, for Sweden - 120, for Qatar - 62, for Hungary - 44. A total of 3563 vehicles were produced. "Leopard 2" took part in the Afghan war, the Civil war in Syria. Comparatively large and complex model of a modern main battle tank without internal detailing. The complexity lies in the many external details and the rather complex shape of the hull and turret. From the publication you can assemble one of two models to choose from: with tactical signs of the Polish 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade, 2nd tank battalion in Swetoshowo in 2007 and a German tank. The publication is completed with laser cutting frame parts, other equipment parts, wheels and tracks, made of cardboard 0.5 and 1 mm thick. There is also an additional sheet of cardboard 1 mm thick.
