In the summer of 1941, the project of NKL-16 combat transport air-sledges was approved in Moscow. The first version of the air-sledges was marked NKL-16-41 and consisted of a closed plywood housing, mounted on 4 skis and special shock absorbers. They are equipped with an M-11 engine and a propeller from a U-2 aircraft. Many shortcomings were clarified during the tests: the sleds were difficult to control, the narrow hull did not allow them to be left for landing quickly, and the propellers often broke. When these deficiencies are eliminated, the sledges are marked "NKL-16-42". They had an extended waistband, were slightly wider, and the engine anchored above the ground to prevent the propeller from hitting the ground frequently. A second door is fitted on the left side of the machine. The roof was fitted with two hatches through which it was possible to explore or shoot, without getting out of the air.
The model is not one, that is not "biting" for beginners, but it is better for them to work under the supervision of a more experienced colleague and it should not be one of your first models. There is nothing to talk about experienced - they will definitely make a great addition to their collection.
