The "Sergeant" missile was designed as a replacement for the obsolete "Corporal F" missiles. The main reason for the appearance of this rocket was the very long installation time of the rocket in the launcher and the time of the launch itself. Fueling the "Corporal" (she was liquid fueled) took several hours, which is a very short time for combat use. Tests have shown, that using only solid fuel allows this time to be shortened to a dozen minutes. Initially, the "Jet Propulsion Laboratory" undertook this work, but it did not have the proper technical training. So the contract was signed with "Sperry Corporation". The first polygon tests were performed in 1959 and completed in 1961. The first "Sergeants" were received by the 7th brigade divisions of the US Field Army, deployed in Western Europe in 1962. Export "Sergeant" to German FR. In 1972 "Sergeant" rockets began to be replaced by "Lance" type weapons and this lasted until 1976.
An uncomplicated, small, well-designed and detailed model, that will suit almost any experience modeler, but a novice modeler should glue this model under the supervision of a more experienced colleague.
