The abbreviation "DUKW" can be deciphered as a 1942 designed (D) multi-purpose amphibious (U - "utility"), all-wheel drive (K) with doubled rear wheels (W) combat vehicle. The amphibian was powered by a linear gasoline 6-cylinder 4425 cm3 working capacity 94 h. p. power engine. For the first time it uses a central all-wheel inflation system on the move, controlled from the driver's seat. With the help of this system it was possible to adjust the air pressure in the tires and thus increase the clearance both on the road and when driving on loose soil. In addition, the amphibious vehicle was equipped with a zenzel pump, which allowed it to stay afloat even after piercing a hole up to 2 inches in diameter in the hull. By the end of the war 21,147 of these amphibians were produced, 2,000 of which were transferred to Great Britain, 586 were sent to the USSR under the Lend-Lease program and a copy was produced there after the war, which was serialized and called "ZIL-485". They were used in the war in the Pacific, the invasion of Sicily and the D-Day operation. Also used in the Korean War.

A complex, well-designed and detailed model for intermediate and advanced modelers, recreating the appearance of an amphibious combat vehicle, used in Operation D-Day.
