"HIMARS" is a highly mobile reactive salvo fire system, designed to destroy areas, where artillery, anti-aircraft defense and fire support, equipment and crews of cargo transport, combat vehicles and armored personnel carriers are concentrated and to provide fire support to own infantry units. The system can launch guided or unguided missiles. The firing range, depending on the type of weapon used, can reach 499 km (missile "PrSM"). Preparation for a shot takes only 1 minute thanks to the fact, that the missiles are loaded into the launcher, ready for firing, in special containers, that can hold up to 6 "MRLS"-type missiles, 2 "PrSM"-type missiles or 1 "ATACMS" missile. In 2018, the possibility of transmitting target coordinates from the F-35B plane directly to the "HIMARS" launcher was verified. This significantly shortens the time from target detection to its destruction. In this scheme, the F-35B aircraft with its powerful sensors plays the role of a reconnaissance aircraft. "HIMARS" systems are manufactured by a division of "Lockheed Martin". It was developed in the late 1990s as a wheeled vehicle, which greatly increased its mobility, compared to the tracked M270 "MRLS", which has a unified launch system and weapons arsenal. The "HIMARS" truck weighs 16 tons, of which 5 tons is the payload. Can be transported by C-130 aircraft. Unlike most Soviet-made salvo fire systems, which are designed to launch unguided missiles, "HIMARS", thanks to the constant improvement of the weapons used, is now capable of launching high-precision guided rockets, tactical and ballistic missiles.
A complex, well-designed and richly detailed model, with fighting compartment and cockpit detailing, well-restored chassis and exterior details, but no engine compartment equipment, the model is intended for intermediate to advanced modelers only.
