The “Dodge” WC54 was the main sanitary vehicle of the US Army in the 1940s and 1950s of XX – th century. It was constructed at the “Chrysler Corporation” (“Dodge Brothers Division”) factory and serial production began in 1942. The car could transport two members of medical personnel and 4 wounded on stretchers or 6 wounded in a seated position. The design was based on the “Dodge” WC51 ¾ ton truck, but with increased wheelbase and modified suspension. These cars are equipped with a regular 6-cylinder diesel 92 h. p. (at 3200 rpm) power motor. Movement is transmitted through a single-disc dry clutch and a 4-speed gearbox and reduction gear. The rear axle is driven, there is an option to engage the drive of the front axle. All-terrain tires allow you to drive in any ground conditions. The maximum speed was 75 km/h. The fuel tank with a capacity of 136 liters made it possible to travel 384 km with a single refueling. In total, about 23 thousand these sanitary cars were produced.
A complex, medium-sized, well-detailed and well-designed model with detailed engine, sanitary compartments, with excellent detailing of the cockpit, external equipment and chassis. The model is only for intermediate and experienced modellers, but with the supervision of a more experienced colleague and without detailing the engine compartment, cockpit and sanitary compartment and simplifying the chassis, this model can be assembled by a modeler with little experience. The model reproduces the machine, that was used by the soldiers of the 2nd Sanitary Campaign of the 3rd Carpathian Rifle Division in the battles in Italy in December 1944-1945.
