When the modernization of the armament of the Red Army began, it was noticed, that there was a need for the production of a light artillery tractor. The horse-drawn carriage, used until then, caused a number of problems and was very vulnerable in combat conditions. T - 20 "Komsomolec" - one of a dozen tractors produced. Constructed under the guidance of engineer A. Astrov at Factory no. 37 in 1936. In “Komsomolec” construction used a car engine (4-cylinder diesel "GAZ - AA" type, and from 1938 - "GAZ-M-1” type, 40 - 50 hp) and the drive mechanism and chassis from the T-38 light tank. After a series of tests, carried out in 1937, the machine was accepted into the arsenal of the Red Army. They were produced until the middle of 1941; 7780 units were produced in three production series. The crew consisted of two people: a gunner and a mechanic-driver, on a special platform on benches, up to 6 members of the staff, serving the towed gun, could fit. "Komsomolec" was widely used in the USSR's wars with Japan in 1938-39, in the USSR-Finnish war, in the USSR-Poland war, in the first part of the German attack.

The model is of medium complexity, but due to the many small details, it is not recommended for beginners or modelers with little experience. But, under the supervision of a more experienced colleague, they can try to glue these models together. The model consists of a tractor, a divisional 76.2 mm cannon ZIS-3 and an ammunition cart. There is no detailing of the crew compartment, neither is the ammunition in cart.
