"VAZ - 2101" Militia – the Soviet Militia car

"VAZ-2101" is a car, that is painfully familiar to every older resident of the former USSR, popularly called "kopeck". This is the first model, released at the Volga Automobile Plant back in 1970. The initial version of the VAZ-2101 with a 1.2-liter engine was produced until 1982, more than 3 million cars of this brand were produced. The car was much cheaper, than the GAZ 24 “Volga” and was affordable for an ordinary citizen. The militia used this type of car very widely - both in big cities and in district centers. Practically all militia services were equipped with them - the State Road Inspectorate, patrol services, militiamen of police stations also often drove "VAZ-2101".
